Russia complains of a drone attack on Mozdok military airfield: the UAVs covered more than 1 thousand km
On the morning of June 8, the Russian Defense Ministry complained about another attack by Ukrainian drones. The terrorist agency said that it had allegedly destroyed a UAV over the territory of the North Ossetia Republic.
Thus, the Russian Federation confirmed that the drone had covered a distance of at least 1,000 kilometers. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the attack on its Telegram channel.
According to Russian terrorists, the drone was allegedly destroyed around 8:40 a.m. The Russian Federation traditionally called the attack "an attempt by the Kyiv regime to commit a terrorist attack."
"The Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed by regular air defense means over the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania," the Russian terrorist agency said in a statement.
At the same time, the head of North Ossetia, Sergei Meniaylo, said that three Ukrainian drones tried to attack a military airfield in Mozdok. The Russian official claims that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the attack. He promised to provide more details later.
"Three unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by air defense forces in Mozdok. According to preliminary information, the UAVs came from the Ukrainian side and targeted a military airfield," Meniaylo said.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has been actively using the airfield in Mozdok to launch missile strikes. The occupiers base TU-22M3 strategic bombers there, from which they regularly launch X-22 cruise missiles at civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
As a reminder, on June 6, a series of explosions occurred in the Rostov region of Russia. After that, a fire broke out at the Novoshakhtyn oil refinery. In addition, the Russian Federation confirmed that a fire also broke out at one of the oil depots in the Belgorod region.
As reported, on the night of May 31, the Navy, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, attacked oil terminals in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. One of them is located in the port of Kavkaz, where a ferry crossing was also disabled. These targets were hit by the Ukrainian Neptune coastal defense system and attack drones.
