Russia boasts of striking a NATO radar in Ukraine, but it was an anti-aircraft system from the DPRK: details emerge

Kremlin propagandists claimed that Putin's troops had allegedly destroyed a "NATO radar" in Ukraine and were ashamed of themselves. In fact, the Russians were shown a destroyed anti-aircraft system from the DPRK.

According to preliminary data, the North Korean equipment was shot down by the Russians themselves in the Kursk region. This was reported on social network X by the OSINT community Status-6.

A few days ago, propaganda sources began publishing a video of a strike on a "NATO radar station in the Sumy direction." The propagandists did not provide any other details.

In turn, OSINT analysts noted that the Russian media actually published footage of a North Korean anti-aircraft missile system. Similar equipment was shown at a parade in Pyongyang in 2020. It is also noted that the complex was located in the Kursk region and was mistakenly hit by a Russian drone operator.

Almost nothing is known about this model of the North Korean air defense system. The Statys-6 team suggests that it is an analog of the Soviet short-range Tor air defense system, which has been manufactured since the early 80s of the last century and is in service with the Russian army.

The destruction of the anti-aircraft system by "friendly fire" once again showed that Putin's army was unable to establish coordination between its own and Korean troops. In addition, the use of SAMs from the DPRK indicates that the Russian army lacks its own air defense capabilities.

As a reminder, soldiers from North Korea are making it much more difficult for the Ukrainian Defense Forces to conduct the Kursk operation on the territory of the Russian aggressor state. However, Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions and do not allow the Russian army to gain any strategic advantage.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to kill 17 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. Another DPRK soldier blew himself up with a grenade.
