Russia attacks Ukraine with over 50 drones and several missiles overnight: air defense forces destroy 24 UAVs, 25 more fall on their own

On the night of August 31, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles once again. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 24 Russian UAVs.

Another 25 drones fell on their own, and three more reached Belarus and Russia. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Voronezh region, four S-300 guided missiles from the occupied part of Donetsk region, and 52 Shahed-131/136 strike drones from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces were involved in repelling the enemy air attack.

"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 24 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs were shot down, and 25 were lost locationally (fell down on their own). Two more drones returned to Russia, and another one reached Belarus. Air defense was operating in Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Mykolaiv and Sumy regions," the Air Force said.

In particular, according to the head of the Cherkasy RegionalMilitary Administration Ihor Taburets, the defenders destroyed three UAVs over the Cherkasy region.

"Four private houses in Cherkasy region were damaged by falling debris. However, people were not injured. This is the most important thing. The area is being inspected," he said.

Air defense forces were also working in Kyiv region.

"Air defense forces were working in the region. Enemy targets were shot down. There were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure. There are no casualties. The falling of the debris is recorded outside the settlements in open areas. As a result of the falling debris of the downed targets, forest and grass litter caught fire in 3 districts of the region. Operational groups continue to work on eliminating the consequences of the enemy's attack," said Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

And the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, said that Kyiv had been attacked with drones for the fourth time in a week. The air raid alert in the capital lasted about 4 hours.

"All Russian attack drones that threatened Kyiv were destroyed by air defense forces and other means. Preliminary, there was no damage or casualties in the city," he emphasized.

As a reminder, the day before, the occupiers attacked Kharkiv with UAVs. The attack caused significant destruction and killed people, including a child (a girl who was in a playground). More than 70 people were injured.

It also became known that on August 30, Russians shelled Kherson region again. Two injured civilians were taken to the hospital.
