Russia attacks Ukraine with Kh-59 missile and 14 attack UAVs at night: air defense forces shoot down all targets
On the night of Monday, October 23, the defenders of Ukrainian skies repelled an air attack by Russia, which it launched with missiles and attack drones. A Kh-59 missile, 13 Shaheds, and another UAV were shot down.
The alarm was raised partly in the south, north, west, and capital of the country, and in parallel in the border regions due to the activity of Russian tactical aviation. The details of the attack were reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that the enemy launched Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones from the south (Cape Chauda, Crimea) to the southern, eastern and central regions of Ukraine.
The Russians fired a Kh-59 missile from a Su-34 aircraft in the airspace of the seized part of Zaporizhzhia region, and an unidentified drone, probably from the northern border.
"Thanks to the successful combat work of anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, aviation of the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, all air targets were destroyed: 13 Shahed-136/131, one Kh-59 guided missile and one attack UAV (type not identified)," the statement said.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers simultaneously fired S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at civilian objects in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration clarified that in the morning the invaders tried to attack the region with a missile, which was successfully destroyed by the defenders of the Vostok Air Command.
The Southern Defense Forces added that the enemy attack lasted more than 3.5 hours, Russian Shaheds were flying from the temporarily occupied Crimea (Cape Chauda) and tried to hit the port infrastructure of Odesa region.
In the airspace of Odesa region, Ukrainian defenders shot down nine attack UAVs. Another one was neutralized in Vinnytsia region.
It is known that the wreckage of the downed drone damaged the roof of a port warehouse in Odesa district. A fire broke out there, but it was quickly extinguished. No one was injured.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, during a Russian air attack on the night of October 22, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down three Shaheds and a Kh-59 air missle. The enemy launched the targets from the temporarily occupied territories as well.
