On the morning of Sunday, March 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and kamikaze drones, with explosions in Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa and Lviv regions. 43 targets were destroyed in the regions. However, the enemy managed to hit an infrastructure facility in the Lviv region and port infrastructure in the Odesa region.

Missile fragments fell on the roof of a high-rise building in Kyiv, and the wreckage of Shahed drones caused damage to heating and power grids in Dnipropetrovsk region. The Ukrainian Air Force warned of the danger, and local military administrations reported on the consequences of the attack.

Kyiv

"The air raid alert is on! Air defense is working in the capital. Stay in shelters until the air raid is over!" the RMA reported.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers launched several groups of cruise missiles at Ukraine, which changed their movement along the way. It is also possible that the enemy could have used ballistic missiles.

The explosions occurred in the capital around 05:05. Many Kyiv residents went down to the subway to survive another missile attack by the aggressor country.

The Kyiv RMA reported that during the third massive missile attack on Ukraine in the last four days (the second one on Kyiv), enemy missiles were directed at the capital from the northern direction in groups. The air raid alert in the region lasted more than two hours.

"About a dozen enemy missiles were shot down by air defense forces and means over Kyiv and in the vicinity of the capital," the agency said.

It is known that in the Desnianskyi district, the debris of an enemy target fell on the territory of forest plantations. And in Shevchenkivskyi district, the debris fell on the territory of a park area and residential buildings: the facade of a high-rise building was damaged, there was no fire or casualties.

Lviv region

At around 05:20, it was loud in Lviv region, particularly in Stryi district. The head of the Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported on air defense work.

"Another group of missiles is entering Lviv region from Volyn. Stay in shelters!" he added a few minutes later.

Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi warned of a critically high level of danger to city residents. After the air alert was off, he noted that about 20 missiles and seven Shahed drones were flying towards Lviv region, targeting critical infrastructure.

"No hits were recorded in Lviv. We know about the shelling in Lviv region. The regional authorities will report on the consequences. We thank everyone who keeps our sky safe! You are the Titans! Everyone who was in the shelter today also did a good job!" the mayor emphasized.

According to the RMA, the enemy hit a critical infrastructure facility in the Lviv region. There is no information on casualties.

Dnipropetrovsk region

On Sunday night, Russian troops attacked Dnipropetrov'k region with UAVs, and air defense systems were operating in the region. The falling debris in Kryvyi Rih damaged heating networks and a power line. The voltage drop caused several boiler houses in the city to shut down, leaving six hospitals, more than one and a half hundred educational institutions, and 3,000 homes with a total population of 76,000 people without heat.

"There were power outages in one of the medical facilities. It has been restored. Emergency repair crews are working," Serhii Lysak, head of the RMA, said.

In addition, the wreckage of the downed drone damaged a power facility in the Nikopol region. Experts were working to restore power supply there.

Odesa region

According to the Southern Defense Forces, the enemy returned to terrorizing the Danube region: a hit caused damage to port infrastructure.

What did Russia attack with and what were the results of air defense

After 06:00, the alert in Ukraine was off. The Telegram channel Monitor, which follows enemy aircraft, reported that Russian cruise missiles covered the longest distance of about 2,440 km before reaching the Lviv region. Kyiv and some settlements in Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions were under attack. The strikes were aimed, in particular, at Ukraine's energy sector.

The Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, said that Russia attacked Ukraine with 28 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs (launch areas: Russian Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Cape Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea) and 29 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from 14 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (launch area: Engels, Russia).

As a result of the air battle, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 43 targets, including 18 missiles and 25 kamikaze drones in Dnipro, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kyiv, Volyn, and Lviv regions.

It is noteworthy that during the massive attack on Ukraine, Poland and its allies took aircraft to the sky to ensure the safety of Polish airspace. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces later confirmed that on the morning of March 24, a Russian missile flew into Polish airspace near the city of Ocerdów for 39 seconds.

As reported, on the morning of March 21, Russia launched a massive attack, aiming three dozen missiles at the Kyiv region. Air Defense Forces within the region shot down a total of 31 targets: two ballistic and 29 cruise missiles. The falling debris caused damage and people were injured.
