Russia attacked Ukraine with kamikaze drones overnight: air defense forces shot down all 10 targets
On the night of June 29, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones again, targeting peaceful Ukrainian towns and villages.
Air defense forces destroyed all 10 drones. This was reported by the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk.
"On the night of June 29, 2024, the enemy launched 10 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs at Ukraine from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region of the Russian Federation. As a result of combat work by attack aircraft units, anti-aircraft missaile units, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare units of the Air Force of Ukraine, all 10 targets were shot down," Oleshchuk said.
He added that enemy kamikaze drones were destroyed over Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Kropyvnytskyi, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions.
In Cherkasy region, one drone was shot down in the Zvenyhorod district.
"There were no casualties and no damage to infrastructure," said Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.
Another Shahed drone, according to the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, was eliminated in Kryvyi Rih district of the region.
According to local authorities, two enemy kamikaze drones were shot down over Kherson region at night, and the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported the destruction of another.
The head of the Kropyvnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Ihor Raykovych, did not name the number of drones destroyed over the region, but said that "there were no consequences."
As a reminder, the air alert in Ukraine began to spread on the evening of June 28. The reason was the launch of Shahed drones by Russian troops from the south. The Ukrainian Air Force also warned of the launch of guided aerial bombs in the Kharkiv region.
In addition, the night before, Russians attacked a residential building in Dnipro. The attack destroyed several floors, leaving one dead and one wounded.
