Refusing to conduct assaults: Russian troops face growing problems on the left bank of Kherson region - ISW

ISW told about the problems of Russian troops on the left bank of Kherson region

Russia's apparent inability to create a cohesive command structure among its forces has led to an aggravation of their situation on the left bank of the Kherson region. Morale and combat capabilities continue to deteriorate in the units.

Today, the occupiers are increasingly refusing to conduct assaults. This was stated by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The day before, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that units of the 810th Marine Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, operating near the village of Krynky (30 km northeast of Kherson and 2 km from the Dnipro River), refuse to storm Ukrainian positions due to the lack of coordination of artillery, transfer of tactical intelligence and proper information about the location of their own minefields.

It is known that maps of Russian minefields are classified, and the command of the Russian Armed Forces did not properly coordinate the location of mined areas with the assault units, which led to 50 casualties among the units of the 810th Brigade over the past month.

According to ISW, units of this Russian marine brigade arrived in the Krynky area in early October 2023. Apparently, they took over responsibility for the immediate area around the settlement from units of the newly created 18th Combined Arms Army after the start of Ukrainian ground operations on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the 28th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 18th Army is currently operating in Pishchanivka (14 km east of Kherson and 3 km from the river). Its additional units and units of the 7th Airborne Division of the Russian Federation are occupying positions in the near rear areas on the left bank. The combined command of these Russian army formations likely controls most of the response to Ukrainian ground operations in Kherson region.

"The minefield incident suggests that the 18th Army command did not share relevant tactical details with the 810th Brigade command. It is likely that the higher-level Russian command responsible for the 'defense' of the left bank has not yet corrected this coordination failure," ISW believes.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the occupiers on the left bank of the Kherson region complained that they had been "abandoned" by the command. The invaders recorded a pitiful video, claiming that they are fighting against Ukraine "not for money" and at the same time asking Russia to provide for their families.
