Pokrovsk direction is still the hottest: General Staff on the situation at the front

As of Tuesday evening, May 21, Pokrovsk remained the hottest spot at the frontline. In total, 94 direct clashes took place between Russian occupants and Ukrainian defenders at the frontline over the last day.

This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 22:00 on May 21. Russian occupants are storming our positions, using their superiority in numbers and equipment. Ukrainian troops are steadfastly defending their land, effectively repelling enemy attacks and improving their tactical position.

Over the last day, the enemy carried out three missile attacks, 35 air strikes and 367 kamikaze drone strikes. The enemy also made almost 2,800 assaults, during which enemy forces attacked the positions of our troops and settlements using various types of weapons.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy tried to force our units out of their positions 10 times, but Ukrainian soldiers repelled six of their attempts to advance in the direction of Lyptsi and Pletenivka-Vovchansk. The situation is tense near Starytsia, where an attack from Nova Tavolzhanka was repelled. The battle near Buhruvatka continues. For their part, Ukrainian defenders counterattack and take measures to strengthen the stability of the defense.

The number of enemy attacks in the Kupiansk sector increased to 12. Fighting continues in the areas of Synkivka, Ivanivka and Novoyehorivka. In the area of Berestove, our defenders repelled two enemy assault attacks, and the situation is currently under control.

No positions were lost in the Lyman sector. The enemy's attempt to advance near Terny was suppressed.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Vyimka and Rozdolivka. The battle near Bilohorivka continues, the situation is currently under control.

A total of 10 enemy attacks were repelled in the Kramatorsk sector. In particular, the Russian occupants unsuccessfully tried to break into the defensive lines of our troops near Klishchiivka five times, three times near Andriivka, as well as in the areas of Novyi and Ivanivske. The enemy's losses in this sector currently amount to 135 people and 50 pieces of equipment. In particular, a tank and two armored personnel carriers were destroyed and a Burelom electronic warfare station was damaged.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the hottest along the entire frontline, the number of enemy attacks increased to 37 since the beginning of the day. The enemy tried to advance from Ocheretyne in the directions of Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Prohres, Yevhenivka, where fierce fighting continues, 15 times. Russian invaders also keep trying to break through our defenses in the area of Novoselivka Persha, Sieverne and Netailove. In some areas, the situation requires our troops to maneuver. The defense forces are taking measures to repel the enemy offensive and stabilize the situation.

In the Kurakhove sector, our defenders continue to suppress the enemy's activity, which has unsuccessfully attacked our positions twice.

In the Vremivsk sector, the situation is stable, but the enemy has concentrated a significant number of weapons in the area of Staromaiorske. Measures are being taken to stabilize the situation.

No active hostilities were registered in the Prydniprovsk sector . The enemy did not launch any attacks in the Toretsk, Huliaipole or Orikhiv sectors.

Ukrainian troops are actively using every weapon to weaken enemy positions along the entire frontline.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian troops destroyed an enemy position and mortar in the Zaporizhzhia sector. The enemy tried to hide in a forest plantation, where they dug trenches and set up a camouflaged position. However, aerial reconnaissance of the State Border Guard Service discovered the location of the Russians.

Ukrainian border guards also destroyed the enemy's UAV piloting point. The occupiers deployed it in the Vovchansk community of the Kharkiv region, where fierce fighting continues.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, 230 units of military equipment and weapons of the Russian army were destroyed over the past day (May 20). Defense forces also killed and wounded at least 1380 occupants.
