Pletenchuk: Russia used unique military equipment intended for the Arctic in the war, and it was destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The aggressor state of Russia has deployed unique military equipment intended for the Arctic to the frontline in Ukraine. In particular, such equipment was spotted on the battlefield in southern Ukraine and destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel on Thursday, August 29. In addition, the occupiers have deployed an Arctic Marine Brigade to participate in the war against Ukraine.
"We have even seen the Arctic Marine Brigade here, so it is difficult to surprise us with anything. However, we were surprised by the presence of unique equipment designed for the Arctic, which was successfully burned in the Ukrainian southern steppes. That's where they managed to surprise us because this is expensive, unique equipment, and using it in this way is blasphemy," he said.
According to Pletenchuk, the army of the aggressor country cannot use the marines as intended, in particular, in the southern direction, because the combat capabilities of Russian marines are very low.
"The combat capabilities of the marines are greatly reduced. The ships themselves cannot go to sea, and they are not ready to take risks. For example, they do not risk using large landing ships at sea, which are designed for this purpose. Accordingly, it is out of the question to talk about landing a sea assault in this context," explained the navy spokesman.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia had 13 ships, not counting the "Konstantin Olshansky," and now there are five of them left, Pletenchuk said. Given this fact, there is no need to talk about a possible amphibious landing.
"If they couldn't do it then, they won't be able to do it now," he said.
In addition, the aggressor country's landing force will not even be able to approach the shore - the coastal missile and artillery troops of the Ukrainian Navy will simply not allow it.
