Planned reinforcement of units is ongoing: General Staff on the situation in Avdiivka and other directions of the front

There were 95 combat engagements on the frontline over the last day, during which our defenders repelled dozens of enemy attacks and assault attempts. The situation is critical in Avdiivka, where the command is carrying out planned reinforcement of the Defense Forces.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a morning briefing on February 16. It emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers are actively inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting them along the entire front line.

According to military estimates, the day before, Russian terrorist forces launched 34 missile and 85 air strikes, firing from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian positions and settlements 144 times. Unfortunately, these attacks resulted in injuries and deaths among the civilian population. Multi-story and private buildings, educational institutions and critical infrastructure facilities were either destroyed or damaged.

The areas hit by enemy air strikes include Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne, Budarky, Chorne, Kolodiazne, and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka, Novoliubivka, and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Terny, Novosadove, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiivka, New York, Avdiivka, Novoselivka Persha, Ocheretyno, Berdychi, Orlivka, Lastochkyne, Heorhiivka, Vodiane, Shevchenko, and Staromaiorske in Donetsk; Novodarivka in Zaporizhzhia. More than 110 towns and villages in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of the North Joint Forces Operation Center in the Volyn and Polissia sectors, the operational situation remains without significant changes. In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi sectors, the aggressor maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage activities, and increases the density of minefields along the border in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Joint Forces Operation Center in the Kupyansk sector, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. In the Liman sector, six attacks by the Russian Armed Forces were repelled near Terny, Yampolivka and Vesele in the Donetsk region. In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 10 occupants' attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade in the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invaders. Thus, yesterday, the Defense Forces repelled 28 Russian attacks in the areas of Avdiivka, Lastochkyne and five more near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

"In accordance with the decision, we are reinforcing units as planned and maneuvering troops in threatened areas," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said about the situation around Avdiivka.

In the Marinka sector, Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the enemy near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Peremoha and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 34 attacks over the last day. In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped three enemy attacks south of Prechystivka and near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region. In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Russian Armed Forces did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Forces Operation Center in the Kherson sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold their positions and repel the attacks of the occupation forces. Despite significant losses, the Russian army keeps trying to drive our units from their positions. Over the past day, the enemy made three unsuccessful assaults.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian combat aircraft struck 12 areas where Russian Armed Forces personnel were concentrated. In addition, late on February 15, air defense forces destroyed one X-59 guided missile. Missile troops struck a command center, three areas of personnel concentration, one artillery vehicle, an ammunition depot, and one radar station.
