"Perform a wide range of tasks": Ministry of Defense has approved the clearance of nine ground robots in a year
Since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Defense has commissioned nine domestically produced ground robotic systems in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. They help Ukrainian soldiers perform a wide range of tasks at the front.
Such systems also gradually minimize the presence of humans on the front line. This was reported by the head of the Defense Ministry's department, Colonel Volodymyr Rochniak.
According to him, Ukrainian manufacturers are currently focused on the production of robotic systems to increase the capabilities of the Armed Forces and save the lives of soldiers.
"Since the beginning of 2024 alone, 9 ground robotic systems created by Ukrainian gunsmiths have been codified," Rochniak said.
The colonel noted that ground robots are designed to perform various tasks on the battlefield. Some are carriers of weapons systems, including machine guns of various calibers. These combat robots allow Ukrainian soldiers to remotely fire at the enemy from cover. This capability prevents the deaths and injuries of servicemen.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the unmanned ground systems codified this year include robots for evacuating the wounded from the battlefield, performing logistics tasks, mining and demining.
The defense ministry also explained that the codification and subsequent approval of a sample of weapons and military equipment of domestic production for operation with the assignment of a NATO nomenclature number allows the purchase of these weapons from the state budget for the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Earlier, Oleksii Bezhevets, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on recruiting, said that the war in Ukraine is close to the point where ground drones may appear on the battlefield to do the most dangerous work instead of the military.
