Tamaz Gambarashvili, the head of the Vovchansk City Military Administration, confirmed the evacuation in a commentary to the media. He said that the authorities, police, and volunteers are helping people.
"Most people are leaving by their own transport. But at the same time, together with the humanitarian center, we are organizing the evacuation of those locals who do not have their own cars. We work together with volunteers and the police. We are taking people out of Vovchansk and nearby settlements," Gambarashvili told Hromadske Radio.
Local residents say that the shelling on the night of May 10 was perhaps the most massive since the beginning of the war."It is dangerous to be in Vovchansk now. Since three in the morning, there have been UAVs, artillery, and MLRS attacks," added the head of the CMA.

Fighting on the border
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed that the Russian army attempted to break through the defense line under the cover of armored vehicles at about 5 a.m. on May 10.
As of 13:00 on Friday, the Defense Forces repelled the attacks, and fighting of varying intensity continued.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the enemy used guided aerial bombs and other weapons in the Vovchansk sector, increasing fire pressure on the front line of Ukrainian defense as the night began.
"Reserve units have been deployed to strengthen the defense in this area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy's offensive," the press service said.

According to OBOZ.UA sources, enemy activity (as of Friday morning) was recorded in the villages of Strilecha, Pylna, and Borysivka (Kharkiv district), as well as Hatyshche (Vovchansk district). This is the border area in the northern part of Kharkiv region.

Reuters believes that the Russian army has launched a ground armored attack on the northeastern part of the Kharkiv region, "trying to create a buffer zone".
The agency cites a senior Ukrainian military source. The source told reporters that the invaders "are trying to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces back 10 kilometers from the Russian border."
