"Our soldiers are holding positions on the second line of defense." Tarnavskyi describes how the Defense Forces withdrew from Avdiivka
Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 38 attacks by Russian occupants in the Avdiivka sector over the last day. Artillery of the Tavria self-propelled artillery system performed almost 400 firing missions, covering the organized withdrawal of our units from Avdiivka, but some servicemen were captured by the invaders.
This was reported by Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, in a Telegram message. According to him, the total losses of the occupiers in manpower in the entire operational area of the Tavria Joint Forces Operation Center amounted to 609 people over the past day.
According to the commander, Ukrainian soldiers are currently holding positions on the second line of defense. Their withdrawal from Avdiivka was carried out under the plan developed taking into account various scenarios and possible changes in the operational situation.

"Nevertheless, at the final stage of the operation, under the pressure of the enemy's superior forces, a number of Ukrainian servicemen were taken prisoner," Tarnavskyi said.
According to him, Ukrainian institutions will appeal to international humanitarian organizations and intermediary countries on this issue. It is necessary to ensure that the enemy treats prisoners of war humanely, following the norms of International Humanitarian Law.
"We will fight for the liberation of all our comrades," the general assured.
