Occupiers arranged evacuation from Tokmak and destroyed documents in Vesele: queues for fuel at gas stations in the seized territory - General Staff

The 439th day of large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has already begun, on which the forces of the terrorist state are mainly concentrated in the Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka directions. The day before the Defense Forces repelled 55 attacks there, heavy fighting continues for Bakhmut and Maryinka.

At the same time, the enemy is probably partly preparing another "planned retreat" from some captured territories: in the settlements in Zaporizhzhia, the occupants burn documents, evacuate people, queues for fuel arose at gas stations there. This is reported by the General Staff of the AFU in the morning report on May 8.

It is noted that this night the Russian Federation again attacked Ukrainian territory with Iranian "Shaheds" - all 35 drones were shot down by our defenders.

Continuing their terror tactics, Russian forces launched 16 missile strikes over the past 24 hours, in particular against cities in Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odessa regions. In addition, 61 airstrikes and 52 multiple rocket launches were recorded against Defense Forces positions and settlements. Unfortunately, there have been civilian deaths and injuries, and high-rise buildings, private homes and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged.

There remains a high probability of further Russian missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine.

No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected in the Volyn and Polissya directions.

On the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the aggressor maintains military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. Over the past day, it carried out air strikes in the areas of Zarichchia, Leonivka and Kostobobriv in Chernihiv region; Hlukhiv in Sumy region. It also fired mortar and artillery shells at the towns of Orlykivka, Tymonovychi, Zarichchia, Bleshnya, Zaliznyi Mist, Arkhipivka, Leonivka, Buchky in Chernihiv region; Stara Huta, Seredyna-Buda, Bachivsk, Ulanove, Vorozhba, Iskryskivka and Novhorodske in Sumy region; and Udy, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne, Budarky and Stroyivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk direction, the occupants did not conduct any offensive actions. At the same time, they carried out air strikes on Hryanivka and Vilshanka. Krasne Pershne, Figolivka, Novomlynsk, Zakhidne, Lyman Pershne, Berestove in Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire; Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.

In the Liman direction, the Russian Armed Forces conducted unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Spirne over the day. They conducted air strikes on Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Torske and Spirne in Donetsk region. Stelmakhivka, Makiivka and Nevske in Luhansk region, and Bilohorivka and Spirne in Donetsk region came under enemy artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Fighting continues in Bakhmut, which the occupiers shelled with incendiary and phosphorus ammunition. During the day, they also conducted unsuccessful offensives towards the towns of Khromove, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar and Stupochki. They carried out air strikes on Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, Kurdyumivka and New York. Zaliznyanske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Markove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochki, Oleksandr-Shultine and Leonidivka in Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the Russian army attacked in the areas of Avdiivka and Pervomaiske yesterday, but did not succeed. It fired at the following localities. Keramik, Novokalynove, Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomayske, Nevelske, Netaylove, Karlivka and Ostre in Donetsk region.

In the Mariinka direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled numerous enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mariinka. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kurakhove and Pobeda in the Donetsk region came under Russian fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the aggressor did not conduct offensive actions, but fired at the towns of Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, Novoukrainka, Shakhtarske and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region.

Occupants continue to conduct defensive actions in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. They launched air strikes in the areas of Vremivka in Donetsk region, Gulyaypole and Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia. Meanwhile, more than 50 settlements were shelled, including Poltavka, Charivne, Novoandriivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Zmiivka, Prydniprovske, Romashkove, Yantarne, Kizomys, Sofiyivka, Stanislav in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

The Russian occupiers are conducting the so-called evacuation of local residents from Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, in the direction of Berdiansk. Representatives of the local "authorities," collaborators, children, teachers and educators are subject to this procedure. At the same time, parents are threatened with not having their children's school year counted if they refuse to "evacuate" their children. There are queues for fuel at gas stations, and all drivers have been informed that no new deliveries are planned. In Vesele, Zaporizhzhia, the local police department of the enemy is closed and does not function. The day before, the destruction of this institution's documentation was observed.

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out eight strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel and military equipment, as well as a strike on its anti-aircraft missile system.

Our defenders destroyed two attack and six reconnaissance UAVs of the occupants. Missile and artillery units struck two control points, two areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, as well as three ammunition depots of the Russian Armed Forces.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, top Ukrainian officials are trying to lower allied expectations about the AFU counterattack, which the world has been talking about for months. They fear that the result of these actions on the front may not meet the hopes of partner countries.
