Over the past month and a half, Russian troops have become more active in the north of the Donetsk region, particularly in the Lyman sector. The number of Russian assaults there has increased significantly.
The enemy is trying to capture the Lyman and try to reach Sloviansk. This was stated by Maksym Bilousov, spokesman for the 60th separate mechanized Inhulets brigade, on the air of "Suspilne. Studio."
He noted an increase in the number of enemy attacks in the Lyman sector.
"This direction is a high priority because it is one of the possible ways to reach the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. It is very important for them to capture the Lyman and through it, through Raihorodok, to reach Sloviansk," the military said.

On the way to Lyman, the enemy has a natural obstacle – the Zherebets River, which flows east of the city. Russians are currently trying to force it across.
"It is important for them to get to Lyman via the Zherebets River. That is, in the short term, access to the Lyman. All other settlements are too small to be targeted. There is a certain difficulty here, they need to enter directly. It will be difficult for them to approach from the flanks because of the terrain, because of the peculiarities of the relief," said Bilousov.
At the moment, the Russian command has deployed its better-trained units to the Lyman sector.
"The last month and a half has been marked by constant attacks, constant assaults by the enemy. And if earlier it was, so to speak, prisoners or inexperienced enemy soldiers, now well-trained groups are storming our positions. The only conclusion is that they want to achieve results. Poorly trained or untrained soldiers can only expose our firing points and positions, while well-trained soldiers can achieve success. Their aviation and artillery systems are working," the 60th Brigade spokesman outlined the situation.
Earlier, the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the occupants are trying to increase the pace of the offensive in the Lyman area and are sending wounded to the assault.
According to intelligence, the aggressor has sent additional assault units of the 283rd and 488th Russian motorized rifle regiments to this section of the frontline.
