On the morning of January 3, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Avdiivka in Donetsk region. The occupiers launched four missiles and hit a residential area, killing a 51-year-old man on the spot and injuring a 50-year-old woman.

This was reported by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration Vadym Filashkin on his Telegram channel. He also posted a photo of the aftermath of the strike, which shows destroyed residential buildings and a crater from the rocket's impact.

According to him, Avdiivka came under fire around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3.

A51-year-old man died on the spot, a 50-year-old woman was hospitalized with injuries.

"Avdiivka suffers from enemy shelling every day, no one can guarantee safety. Be responsible - evacuate!" urged the head of the CMA.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- The situation in the area of Avdiivka remains very tense. The occupants keep trying to completely surround the city and are shelling it with various types of weapons. The head of the city's military administration, Vitaliy Barabash, showed a video from Avdiivka, which shows that there is not a single intact building in the city.

- At a press conference on December 26, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny suggested that Russia could do to Avdiivka what it did to Bakhmut in a few months. According to him, Ukraine values every piece of its land, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces will defend the city as long as they have the strength to do so.

- An occupier with the "iconic" surname Chernihivsky was captured by Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka. He complained about the heavy losses Russia was suffering in its attempts to capture the city.
