Occupants shell Kherson residential areas: 23 people wounded, including children

On the afternoon of 16 June, Russian troops shelled Kherson. At least 23 people were injured, including children.
Residential buildings, the administrative building of a medical institution and a kindergarten, a supermarket, vehicles, and power lines were damaged. Details were provided by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Kherson City Civil-Military Administration and the Office of the President of Ukraine.
"According to the investigation, on 16 June, at around 13:00, the Russian military began massively shelling residential areas of the city of Kherson. "As of 15:00, there are 12 civilians injured, including two minor children. A multi-storey building, administrative buildings of medical and educational institutions, vehicles, and power lines were damaged," the local prosecutor's office said.
By 4pm, the number of victims had risen to 19. This was reported by the head of the Kherson city military-civilian administration Roman Mrochko.
He recorded an address from a shelter.
"You can see a lot of blood behind me. The wounded were brought here. There was an arrival to the right of the building. People were in it and next to it. Unfortunately, six people were injured. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Within an hour, 19 civilians were injured on the territory of the Kherson community as a result of terrorist actions by Russian military personnel," said Mrochko.
As of 5 p.m., according to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, the number of casualties has increased again: 23 wounded residents of Kherson are known.
"The Russian terrorist army attacked Kherson with massive fire. 23 people were wounded. The strikes were aimed at the Tavriyskiy district, Korabelny district and the central part of the city. The shelling damaged a medical facility, a kindergarten, a supermarket, residential buildings, cars, and power lines. There are three children among the victims," said Yermak.
He added that all the victims were hospitalised.
"Three people are in serious condition, all the others have moderate or light injuries. The shelter saved the lives of many people," added the head of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Currently, under the procedural supervision of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"Prosecutors, together with police investigators, continue to take all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the Russian armed forces," the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office said.
As reported in the morning, the occupiers attacked Kherson region and Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia. At least two civilians were killed and one person was injured in these settlements.
Thus, in Novoberislav, Kherson region, the invaders killed a married couple: the wife died on the spot, her husband died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.
In Orikhiv, a 55-year-old local resident was wounded.
It was also reported that during the visit of a delegation from Africa to Kyiv, Russia attacked Kyiv region with missiles. The air defence forces shot down 6 Kalibr cruise missiles and the same number of aerial ballistic Kinzhal missiles. African leaders, who had arrived to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the need for negotiations with Russia, waited out the alarm in a bomb shelter.
In the Kyiv region, the falling debris of downed missiles damaged houses and injured four civilians, including two children.
