Occupants in the north have reduced the number of attacks and are building fortifications on their side of the border – Siversk operational and tactical grouping

The Russian occupiers in northern Ukraine have reduced the intensity of shelling, but continue to use a wide range of weapons to attack the border regions. At the same time, they are strengthening their defensive positions and fortifying their side of the border.

The spokesman for the Siversk operational and tactical grouping of troops, Colonel Vadym Mysnyk, told this during an all-Ukrainian telethon. According to him, despite the decline in activity, the enemy is shelling Chernihiv, Sumy, and part of Kharkiv regions, which are in the group's area of responsibility, on a daily basis.

"This is the northern border of our country, and the enemy does not stop shelling from the territory of Russia every day, in particular Chernihiv, Sumy, and part of Kharkiv regions, which are in the area of responsibility of our group. We have noticed a certain decrease in the number of attacks and activity in recent days," said Mysnyk.

Despite the decrease in activity, the occupiers continue to use all types of weapons in their arsenal, including unmanned aerial vehicles, FPV drones, mortars, artillery, and, in some cases, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In addition, the Russians are actively using unguided aerial missiles from helicopters and dropping CABMs from airplanes.

Despite these threats, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively responding to air attacks by striking at Russian territory, particularly in the Bryansk and Kursk regions.

"Of course, wherever possible, our Defense Forces act in response. And we can feel the result of our Defense Forces striking deep into Russian territory, namely deep into both the Bryansk and Kursk regions," Mysnyk said.

As for strengthening the defense, the colonel noted that a unified defense system has been formed in the north. At the same time, new technical developments are being used to strengthen the fortifications.

Mysnyk also emphasized that the occupiers in the north are constantly using sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs), to which our Defense Forces respond with air reconnaissance and anti-sabotage reserves.

Regarding the enemy grouping on the northern border, the spokesman noted that although no large grouping has been observed, the enemy continues to strengthen its positions on its side of the border. He also added that the Russians have a well-developed transportation infrastructure and can quickly deploy forces if necessary, and our forces are closely monitoring the situation, preparing for various scenarios.

It is worth noting that units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced in Toretsk and regained some positions during the fighting over the past few days. However, the occupiers also advanced in some sectors of the city, as well as in the area of Chasovyi Yar and in the Kurakhiv direction.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Russian occupation forces have recently made further advances in Velyka Novosilka. ISW predicted the enemy's actions after the capture of the village in the context of its further offensive operations in the spring and summer of 2025.
