The Lithuanian government has decided to hand over a new military aid package for the Ukrainian army, which is conducting a counter-offensive on the frontline to liberate the territories seized by Russian troops. The Defense Forces will receive NASAMS SAMs, counter-drone weapons and other assistance.

This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania on Friday, August 4. As noted, the state continues to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia's full-scale invasion.

NASAMS SAMs, UAVs, logistical equipment, folding beds and much more will be transferred to Ukraine in the near future, the ministry said.

The ministry added that in addition to the transferred military equipment and gear, Lithuania is constantly actively involved in the training of Ukrainian soldiers, provides treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainians, organizes consultations with specialists and allocates money to international funds to support Ukraine.

Military support transferred by Lithuania included Mi-8 helicopters, L-70 air defense systems with ammunition, M113 armored personnel carriers, millions of rounds of ammunition and ammunition for grenade launchers during the first seven months of 2023.

NASAMS is a medium to long-range surface-to-air missile system that can perform air defense functions. The system can shoot down airplanes, helicopters, drones and missiles. Such SAMs are in service with Norway, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia and three other countries around the world. Now they are among the most modern and effective offerings on the international arms market.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, earlier it became known that Bulgaria will donate a hundred armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. They are in the reserve of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, but are not used by the agency.
