Justifying Russian crimes: Ukraine bans activities of pro-Russian party whose leader is hiding with the occupiers
Based on the evidence provided by the Security Service, the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in Lviv has decided to ban the activities of another pro-Russian party. It is the Social Patriotic Assembly of Slavs (SPAS), which is engaged in information and subversive activities in favor of the occupiers.
This was reported by the SBU press service. After the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, representatives of this banned political force "dispersed" almost throughout the temporarily occupied territory of our country.
Currently, the leader of this political force, Eduard Kovalenko, is hiding from the court in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, where he continues to keep in touch with the FSB. Under the guidance of Russian special services, he and his political colleagues publicly support the aggressive war against Ukraine. They actively agitate local residents to support the aggressor and join its occupation forces.
Representatives of this political force also speak to the Russian media on behalf of "ordinary citizens" of Ukraine and justify the war crimes of the Russian Federation.
In September 2022, the Security Service investigators notified Kovalenko of suspicion under Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law by prior agreement of a group of persons).
The indictment was submitted to the court. Comprehensive measures are being taken to bring Kovalenko and his accomplices to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
Earlier, the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal granted the Ministry of Justice's request to ban the activities of the Party of Regions, a political force of former President Viktor Yanukovych. All the property of the pro-Russian organization will be transferred to the state treasury. The decision was made on the basis of the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation.
