"It must be stopped": Borrell condemns Russia's massive attack on Ukraine

The perpetrators will be punished, the EU diplomat said.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has reacted to another massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine. He said that the attacks must stop and the perpetrators must be punished.

Borrell made the statement on social network X on Friday, February 22. He noted that the aggressor country continues to brutally attack Ukrainian civilians using missiles and UAVs.

"Russia continues its brutal attacks on the population of Ukraine, bombing energy infrastructure with drones and missiles overnight, killing and injuring dozens of people, and jeopardizing the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. This must stop! All those responsible will be brought to justice," the politician wrote.

''It must be stopped'': Borrell condemns Russia's massive attack on Ukraine

On March 22, the Russian army launched the second massive attack against Ukraine in two days. At night, the enemy launched UAVs and X-101/555/55 cruise missiles in the morning. Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions came under attack, with casualties and injuries.

Russia's attack on energy facilities on March 22 was the largest in the full-scale war, with about 20 substations and power plants, including the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant, being hit.

It will take a day to restore power to all consumers, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

The Russian Defense Ministry cynically called the attack on civilian infrastructure and residential buildings in Ukraine "retaliatory strikes." Serhii Bratchuk, a representative of the UVA "South", called this statement a lie on OBOZ TV and emphasized that the attack requires careful preparation by the enemy for more than one or even several days.
