A new meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's defense in the Ramstein format will take place this week, scheduled for April 26.

This was announced by Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren. She announced the date of the meeting before a joint meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers and Defense Ministers in Luxembourg on April 22.

"It's an important week, we saw the approval of aid to Ukraine in the US House of Representatives this weekend, we had the Alliance meeting on Friday, we have this meeting today, and we have the Ramstein meeting at the end of the week. So it's an important week," Ollongren said.

According to the Dutch Defense Minister, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin can be stopped in Ukraine. But for this purpose, it is necessary to provide the Armed Forces with weapons and ammunition, as well as financially support the country that is confronting the aggressor.

Ollongren emphasized that everyone needs to be involved in this process, so now all countries must step up their efforts to help Ukraine.

"We need action, but sometimes we need to talk to get action, and that's exactly what we intend to do," added the Dutch Defense Minister.

The previous, 20th anniversary meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense took place at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on March 19. The meeting was held at the invitation of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

At the meeting, the urgent needs of the Defense Forces for weapons were discussed, and new aid packages were announced.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the member countries of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense have already raised $88 billion for military support for Kyiv in two years. Currently, the Ramstein countries are focusing on two areas: short-term assistance to meet the immediate needs of the Armed Forces on the battlefield, and long-term assistance.
