ISW: Defense Forces continued the offensive in three sections of the front and were able to advance

Fighting for Ukraine

Ukrainian Defense Forces continued counter-offensive actions in at least three areas of the front: Bakhmut, Melitopol and Berdyansk over the past 24 hours on July 25. The troops managed to advance 750 meters in the direction of Staromaiorske in Donetsk region and some distance west of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia.

This was reported by analysts at the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing data from Ukrainian and Russian sources. It noted that the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Maliar reported that the rate of death of Russian troops is eight times higher than Ukrainian troops in the area of Bakhmut, and 5.3 times bigger in Berdyansk and Melitopol directions.

It is also noted that the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian units of the Eastern Group of Forces repelled four Ukrainian attacks near Staromaiorske. At the same time, a Russian military blogger claimed that a small Ukrainian infantry group had stormed the northern outskirts of the locality.

In addition, according to Russian sources, the occupants repelled attacks by Ukrainian troops near the villages of Pryutne (16 km southwest of Velyka Novosilka) and Urozhayne (9 km south of Velyka Novosilka).

According to ISW, Ukrainian forces also continued counteroffensive operations in the western part of Zaporizhzhia region and made a minor advance west of Orikhiv on July 25. Russian military bloggers claimed that Russian forces retreated to unspecified prearranged defense lines in the area.

"ISW has previously assessed that Ukrainian counteroffensive operations are designed to create an asymmetric attrition gradient, preserving Ukrainian personnel at the expense of a slower pace of territorial conquest, while gradually depleting Russian manpower and equipment," the analysts emphasized.

To remind, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov explained that although the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the front to liberate the territories seized by Russia is moving slowly, but is going according to plan. The advance of the Ukrainian military is influenced by many factors, in particular the amount of ammunition, artillery shells and systems, as well as air defense systems.

He noted that commanders see the situation on the battlefield and react quickly to new developments, adding that the most important thing for Ukraine is to preserve the lives of the military.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- Telegram channel "Dosye Shpiona" reported that the occupiers in the Zaporizhzhia direction faced a number of problems. A real "shell famine" looms as the AFU is gradually achieving parity in artillery, while Russian attack drones are losing effectiveness;

- Serhiy Cherevaty, spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are using the entire range of ammunitionon the battlefield provided to the Ukrainian army by Western partners. In particular, cluster munitions were used to strike enemy troops in the Bakhmut direction.
