Russian occupation troops have intensified their activity in the Tavria sector of the frontline. The likely reason is the last deadlines before the presidential elections in Russia to fulfill some political tasks.

This was stated by Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesman for the Tavria separate military unit, during a national telethon . According to him, from the beginning of the day until the morning of March 12, 15 combat engagements took place in the Donetsk sector of the frontline and 6 in the Zaporizhzhya sector.

Lykhoviy noted that, as before, two-thirds of all combat along the entire frontline is taking place in the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade.

"The nature of combat actions is intense – the enemy does not stop trying. Perhaps, these are his last deadlines before the presidential elections in Russia to fulfill some political tasks," suggested the spokesman.

The occupiers are attempting to storm the Orikhivske, Novomykhailivske, Avdiivka directions, and the Vremivske ledge, the territory that was de-occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the summer offensive of 2023.

"These are settlements – there were about a dozen of them. The enemy tried to launch some offensive actions there yesterday, mostly with infantry, but was unsuccessful," added Lykhoviy.

Earlier, Lykhoviy said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces units that have been participating in the most difficult operations in the Tavriya sector of the frontline for a long time have begun to be withdrawn for rotation and recuperation. These are brigades that have been on the front line for a long time and participated in offensive operations last year and recent defensive operations. The withdrawal is taking place as much as the situation on the front line allows.
