Ignat mocked Putin's statement about Patriot's "destruction" by the occupiers: they don't know what it is
Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Air Force of the AFU, ridiculed the statement of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that the occupiers allegedly "destroyed" five Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine. According to him, apparently, the Russian Federation does not even understand what this anti-aircraft missile system is and what it consists of.
He said this during a TV marathon. The colonel stressed that the MIM-104 Patriot systems continue to protect the Ukrainian sky from Russian targets.
Ignat explained that Western partners transferred two divisions of such SAMs to the Ukrainian army.
"Well, we are talking about divisions. They (partner countries. - Ed.) transferred two divisions, which the commander of the Air Force showed, even took selfies," he noted.
The Patriot battalions consist of a complex of systems, in particular, each has a command center, a radar station (radar that transmits information about air targets) and eight launchers.
A representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation suggested that when the Russian leader spoke about the "destruction of five" Patriots in Ukraine, he was referring specifically to the launchers. He stressed that, in fact, these American systems continue to protect the skies of Ukraine.
"Maybe they themselves don't know what Patriot is and what it consists of. And so they "destroy" them every day. I want to assure you that Patriot works. We've seen it for ourselves," summed up Ignat.
We shall remind you that on May 16, the Russian Defense Ministry boasted about the "destruction" of Patriot SAMs and strikes on "locations of AFU deployments". It is noteworthy that at the time, these statements were ridiculed online by Russians themselves.
Subsequently, news spread in the media that the Patriot system in Ukraine could allegedly have been at least damaged by a Russian strike. However, the White House did not confirm this.
In Ukraine, Patriot is used to destroy the "invincible" Russian "Kinzhals," particularly over Kyiv. Earlier, the operator of the SAM told the moment of the first shooting down of this missile by the Russian Federation, which went down in history.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, even before the transfer of divisions of this air defense system by the states to the Ukrainian army, American analysts pointed out that Russia would try to destroy the MIM-104 Patriot in Ukraine. At that time, it was noted that the occupiers would use Iranian kamikaze drones as well as missiles for this purpose.
