After the Russian captivity and stay in Turkey, Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine, commander of the brigade "Azov" Denis Prokopenko (call sign "Radis") met with the personnel. Now the warrior continues rehabilitation, but will soon start performing his duties.

Prokopenko said that while still in captivity he said: the war will not end for him "until we return our last fighter from captivity and restore Ukraine's borders to the state of 1991."

"I am a soldier. I am not interested in any other line of activity but military affairs. My heart, my soul, my body belong to Azov", - emphasized "Radis" during a meeting with the brigade's fighters.

Denis Prokopenko (Radis) will return to duty in the near future

The Azovstal defender said that attention should be paid to combat training and to the completion of the unit with personnel, military equipment and weapons.

The press service said the long-awaited meeting with the commander will boost the morale of the brigade's soldiers and give them added confidence on the battlefield.

"The personnel of Azov, who have been waiting for the return of the commander from captivity for more than a year, are happy to welcome him in the ranks and ready to fulfill any assigned tasks," the post summarized.

- On July 8, 2023 Ukrainian military men who led the defense of Azovstal in Mariupol last spring, Denis Prokopenko, Svyatoslav Palamar, Serhiy Volynsky, Oleg Khomenko, Denis Shlega returned to Ukraine.

- The soldiers were in Turkey after September 21, 2022 (when the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place). As a result of negotiations between Kyiv and Ankara, they were returned to their native country.

- Prokopenko, Palamar, Volynsky, Khomenko and Shlega arrived in Ukraine together with President Volodymyr Zelensky and first visited Lviv.

- Then Prokopenko stated,"We will definitely still say our word in battle".
