Hundreds of thousands of shells, thousands of missiles, and more: the United States promised to provide an "avalanche" of military aid to Ukraine
The White House has announced a large-scale initiative to support Ukraine. It includes an "avalanche" of military aid and new sanctions against the terrorist country of Russia.
This was announced by US President Joe Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan during a briefing, The Guardian reports. Sullivan also promised to help Kyiv at a meeting with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak.
In particular, it was about hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of missiles, and hundreds of armored vehicles by mid-January. According to Sullivan, the US is also ready to train the Ukrainian military at facilities outside the country. In addition to military aid, the plan includes a nearly finalized deal for $20 billion in loans secured by the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
In the coming weeks, the United States is set to impose new sanctions aimed at making it harder for Russia to finance its military operations and strengthening Ukraine's position in potential negotiations. The White House notes that these measures are intended to lay the groundwork for a future settlement of the war.
This initiative has become relevant against the backdrop of possible changes in US policy after the inauguration of Donald Trump, when the new administration may reconsider approaches to ending the war.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, a Ukrainian delegation headed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak has already met in Washington with representatives of the team of US President-elect Donald Trump. The Ukrainians met with Trump's advisors responsible for Ukraine policy.
The meeting was attended by Mike Waltz, Trump's future national security adviser, and Keith Kellogg, a candidate for the post of special representative for Ukraine.
