Hundreds killed, thousands wounded: South Korea announces losses of DPRK troops in Kursk region

According to South Korean intelligence, the total losses of DPRK soldiers in the Kursk region amount to about 3 thousand people. Of these, 300 soldiers were killed and another 2,700 were wounded.

This was reported by a South Korean publication. In December 2024 alone, 100 North Korean soldiers were killed in the war against Ukraine.

"According to the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea, the total losses among North Korean troops in the region are about 3000 people, of whom 300 were killed and 2700 were injured. In December of this year, South Korean intelligence officers reported losses of 100 killed and about 1000 wounded," the statement said.

On January 11, it became known that Ukrainian defenders in the Kursk region captured soldiers from the DPRK. The wounded soldiers were taken to Kyiv. At the time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the North Korean soldiers were injured but survived. The mercenaries are now testifying to Ukrainian law enforcement.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reacted to the capture of the DPRK military. He emphasized that maximum pressure is needed on the regimes of Moscow and Pyongyang.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in late December, the Ukrainian Defense Forces captured the first soldier from North Korea who fought in the Kursk region as part of the Russian occupation forces.

The next day, it became known that the captured DPRK soldier had died, the cause of his death was serious injuries.
