Humeniuk explains why the occupiers intensified the use of Kh-31P missiles after the loss of A50

The occupiers have intensified the use of Kh-31P missiles

After the loss of another A50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft, the Russian terrorist army has begun to attack Ukraine more often with Kh-31P missiles. The enemy uses these weapons to conduct reconnaissance activities to find air defense systems and radar stations.

The frequent use of Kh-31P may also indicate that the Russians lack intelligence. Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the Joint Press Center of the Operational Command "South", told about this during the telethon.

According to her, after the destruction of the A50 aircraft, the enemy intensified the use of Kh-31P anti-radar missiles. In different directions, the occupiers are trying to check the location of air defense systems and radar with this missile.

In addition, Humeniuk emphasized that the enemy is currently unable to approach the front line to launch guided bombs in the southern sector, so it relies on missiles.

"The Kh-31P missile is an anti-location missile aimed at searching for air defense systems and radar stations. It was such a missile that once hit a foreign ship entering the port. There is also a radar system there, and accordingly, the missile hit its own trap," Gumenyuk said.

The "South" command noted that Ukrainian servicemen are using various methods to counteract the missile attack. However, Gumenyuk added that, in addition to air missiles, Russians often use ballistic missiles. In particular, on the evening of March 3, such a missile struck Mykolaiv region.

"Ballistic missiles are being used from Crimea, and they are hitting the territories that are not directly near the frontline, but deeper and further away. This is the enemy's intention to keep the Ukrainian territory under terror and pressure," said Humeniuk.

As a reminder, on the afternoon of March 3, Russian terrorists launched a missile in the direction of Odesa region. A tactical aircraft launched an Kh-31P missile. The defense forces noted that the missile lost its combat capability over the sea.

Earlier it was reported that after the loss of the second A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft, Russia probably stopped their flights. This will continue until internal terrorist investigations reveal the reasons for the ineffective protection of these aircraft.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, before the start of the full-scale war, Russia had only nine reconnaissance aircraft: three A-50s and six A-50Us. The occupiers use them as correctors during massive shelling of Ukraine, and one such aircraft costs at least $330 million.
