Poll data: How many Poles believe that Poland should shoot down Russian missiles in the border regions of Ukraine?

Polish air defense is armed with the latest Patriot systems

The majority of the Polish population would like Polish air defense to shoot down Russian missiles in the border regions of Ukraine. This opinion is shared by 63% of Poles surveyed.

The survey was conducted by the IBRiS Center for the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita. The survey participants were asked whether Warsaw should negotiate with NATO and Kyiv to protect the skies on the border territory of Ukraine to be able to shoot down Russian missiles flying towards Poland.

37.6% of respondents chose the answer "definitely yes," and 31.7% chose "rather yes."

Only 17.6% of respondents were against it. In particular, 9.1% chose the option "definitely not," and 8.5% chose "rather not."

Instead, 13.1% were not able to answer.

The survey was conducted on January 26-27, 2024, by telephone, with a sample of 1070 respondents.

As you know, the Polish air defense system is equipped with one of the most modern systems – Patriot.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– On December 29, during a massive missile attack on Ukraine, a Russian missile was spotted in Poland near the village of Wojcuczyn-Cukrownia, and the Polish General Staff confirmed this fact. It was reported that the missile most likely stayed in NATO airspace for a short time and then returned to Ukraine.

– In connection with the incident, Poland officially appealed to Russia for explanations and "cessation of such activities."

– On January 13, during a new massive Russian attack, the Polish army went on high alert, with F-16s in the sky. Ground-based air defense systems were also activated.

– Military expert Vladyslav Selezniov believes that Russia deliberately used Polish airspace to try to deceive Ukrainian air defense. Thus, the missile flew into Ukraine from the west, from the territory of Poland.
