Heavy fighting continues in Donbass, 27 clashes with the enemy - General Staff

In Ukraine, heavy fighting continues in the Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Maryinka directions, where the Russian occupants continue to concentrate their main efforts. During the day there were 27 clashes. In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is defending itself.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a summary as of 18:00 on Sunday, July 9 (the 501st day of the full-scale invasion). The latest developments on the front were published on the department's Facebook page.

During the day, the enemy carried out 27 air strikes and 37 rocket launcher attacks on our troops' positions and settlements. "Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population, residential houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed," the GS wrote.

It warned that the probability of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains high.

The situation in the Volyn and Polissya sectors remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive enemy groups were detected.

In the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the invaders fired mortar and artillery shells at about 10 localities over the course of the day. In particular, these are Vintorivka, Iskryskivka, Yastrubyne in Sumy region and Udy, Vetarine, Vovchansk in Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukraine's defenders are holding steadfastly. The enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Kolodyazne and Kyslivka in Kharkiv region. Krasne Pershe, Figolivka, Dvorichne, Kupyansk and Kyslivka came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Liman sector, the occupants conducted assault operations throughout the day and tried to force our troops out of their positions in the area west of Spirne, Donetsk region. The enemy was not successful. He carried out air strikes in the areas of Novosadove, Ivanivka, Serebryanske forestry and Spirne. More than 10 localities came under artillery fire, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Torske, Spirne, Berestove and Vesele in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector, under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled the occupiers' attacks near Dubovo-Vasylivka. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinity of Oleksandr-Shultine and Pivnichne. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Markove, Bohdanivka, Khromove, and Ivanivske in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the area of Avdiivka. The Russian Armed Forces shelled more than 10 localities with artillery. These include Novokalynove, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomayske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

In the Mariinka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled all enemy attacks in the vicinity of the town of Mariinka under hostile artillery fire. The invaders launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka. Hostile attacks were registered in more than 10 localities, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Yelizavetivka and Katerynivka in Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Novomykhailivka. They fired at more than 10 localities. These include Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva, Shakhtarske and Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the occupants are focusing their main efforts on preventing further advance of our troops. Enemy air strikes took place in the areas of Rivne and Novodanylivka in Zaporizhzhia and Kozatske in Kherson region. Russian troops opened artillery fire in the vicinity of more than 20 settlements. Among them are Temyrivka, Novodarivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region, Beryslav, Vesele, Antonivka, Bilozerka in Kherson region and the city of Kherson. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

Aircraft of the Defense Forces struck one area of concentration of Russian Armed Forces personnel during the day.

Themissile forces and artillery units struck two areas of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, two artillery vehicles in firing positions and two radio electronic warfare stations of the Russian invaders during the day.

The General Staff added that the forced passportization of Ukrainian citizens continues. For example, in the city of Starobelsk in Luhansk Region, the Russian occupants issued "Russian residents" cards valid for three months to all employees of the local multi-profile hospital who had not received a Russian passport. At the same time, the Ukrainians were threatened that if they fail to obtain Russian documents within this period, they will be deported from the temporarily occupied territory and their homes will be confiscated.
