On October 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Sumy region. He began the trip with a meeting with the soldiers who were fighting in the Kursk region of Russia, protecting our border regions and the entire country.

In particular, he listened to a report from Commander Dmytro Voloshyn and honored the soldiers of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. The President announced this on Friday evening on social media.

"Thank you for your service, for the defense of our state. I thank all the commanders, sergeants, and soldiers for the Kursk operation, which greatly helped motivate those who give us support packages with weapons," the president said.

Voloshyn told him about the operational situation in the brigade's area of responsibility, interaction with neighboring units, experience in the use of electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance, and FPV drones, and the fight against Russian drones.

The parties also discussed the provision of equipment and ammunition to the brigade, as well as personnel and training.

Zelenskyy awarded state decorations to the soldiers of the units participating in the operation in the Kursk region: the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, first and third class, and the Order of Courage, third class.

The President promoted Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapatyi to the rank of Major General and Colonel Oleksandr Lutsenko, Commander of the 9th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the rank of Brigadier General.
