Germany announces new military aid package for Ukraine: what will it include
Germany has updated the list of military aid for Ukraine. In particular, ammunition for the LEOPARD 1 main battle tank, 8 additional armored personnel carriers, and demining materials have been added.
This is stated on the website of the Federal Government of Germany. It should be noted that the Taurus missiles expected by Ukraine are not on the list.
Thus, Berlin will provide Kyiv with:
- 24 armored personnel carriers (APCs), instead of 16, as previously reported;
- 25 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones;
- 16 Zetros trucks;
- 5 vehicles for the Border Guard Service;
- several vehicles,
- ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks,
- 50 SatCom communication terminals,
- materials for demining;
- 500 LED lamps;
- almost 2 thousand combat helmets.
The day before, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed with U.S. President Joe Biden support for Ukraine in the war against Russia and the situation in the Middle East. After that, it became known that in 2024, Germany would provide Ukraine with military goods worth more than 7 billion euros, although it was previously expected that the cost of the aid would be 4 billion.
In total, since February 24, 2022, Germany has already provided Ukraine with €6 billion in aid and, together with the United States, remains a leader in military support for our country.
As reported by OBOZ.UA:
- A secret document has been obtained by the media, which shows that Germany is preparing for an armed conflict against Russia. An escalation between NATO and Russia may occur as early as February this year.
- Friedrich Merz, the leader of Germany's opposition CDU party, has called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz not to delay the provision of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
