Ukraine's defenders continued to defend the country, destroying the occupiers and gradually liberating the territories on the 583rd day of the war. The day before, they repelled attacks of the Russian army near Avdiivka and Urozhaine, and are currently conducting an offensive operation in Melitopol and Bakhmut directions

Ukrainian combat aviation and missile troops destroyed several more anti-aircraft missile systems, a military base, electronic warfare stations and other enemy equipment. The military situation as of the morning of September 29 is described in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that 21 combat engagements took place at the front the day before. During this time, the invaders carried out 83 air strikes on the positions of the Defense Forces and civilian objects and fired from multiple rocket launchers 63 times. The enemy also launched 39 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones, 31 of which the defenders shot down. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have once again resulted in civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.

On September 28, Russian air strikes hit the following localities: Hrabovske in the Sumy region; Kruhle, Kupiansk, Berestove in the Kharkiv region; Novoselivske in the Luhansk region; Torske, Siversk, Spirne, Vesele, Kostiantynivka, Bila Hora, Avdiivka, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region; Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region; and Mykolaivka in the Kherson region.

Meanwhile, more than 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions were hit by enemy artillery shelling.

According to the General Staff, the operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions (North operational-strategic group) remains without significant changes. Russian Armed Forces maintain their presence in the border areas in the Siversk and Slobozhansk direction, conducting active sabotage activities and increasing the density of minefields along the border in the Belgorod region of Russia.

The occupiers did not conduct any assault operations yesterday in the Kupiansk and Bakhmut directions (Khortytsia operational-strategic group). At the same time, they launched an attack in the Lyman direction, which was successfully repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bilohorivka.

The defenders did not allow the Russian army to regain the lost position south of Avdiivka in the same direction (Tavria operational-strategic group). They also successfully repelled the enemy in the area of Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

Six attempts by the occupiers to attack in the Marinka direction were unsuccessful. Our soldiers also repelled an enemy attack near Novomykhailivka in the Marinka direction.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled an attack by the Russian army near Urozhaine in the Shakhtarsk direction and prevented the invaders from regaining the position near Chervone in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting counter-battery operations in the Kherson sector (Odesa operational-strategic group), destroying supply depots and successfully striking at enemy rear areas.

On September 28 alone, Ukrainian army aviation carried out 13 strikes on areas where the Russian Armed Forces were concentrated, another on an enemy anti-aircraft missile system, and two on electronic warfare stations. Ukrainian defenders downed two Russian reconnaissance drones. The missile troops destroyed an air defense system, 11 artillery pieces and the occupiers' combat center.

As OBOZREVATEL reported earlier, according to ISW, the occupiers have slowed down localized attacks on the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line. At the same time, they have intensified the use of aviation in these areas and are using it less where the Ukrainian counteroffensive is underway.
