General Staff: 75 clashes occurred on the front, Ukrainian defenders fight back and remind the occupiers not to smoke in the wrong places

Over the last day, December 22, 75 combat engagements took place along the entire frontline. Russian invaders carried out 40 attacks in the Avdiivka sector. The second most intense area of the frontline is the Kupiansk sector, where the invaders are trying to break through the Ukrainian defense, and numerous enemy attacks were recorded in the Kherson region: there, the invaders are trying to drive the soldiers out of their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Aviation and missile units of the Defense Forces hit 17 areas of enemy manpower and weapons concentration the day before, destroying two Russian ammunition depots and control centers. This is stated in the morning operational report published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on December 23.

The General Staff stated that the enemy continues to terrorize Ukrainians, striking at peaceful settlements and positions of Ukrainian soldiers with almost all types of weapons.

For instance, the day before, Russian troops launched 1 missile and 40 air strikes and fired from multiple launch rocket systems 57 times. This resulted in casualties and injuries among the civilian population.

The enemy attacks caused destruction and damage to private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Air strikes were carried out in Kostobobriv, Chernihiv region; Synkivka, Kharkiv region; Katerynivka, Toretsk, Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region; Robotyne and Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region; and Krynky, Kherson region. About 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

There were 75 combat engagements at the frontline over the last day.

Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, Kharkiv region in the Kupiansk sector alone (the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group), where Russians tried to break through the defense of our troops.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions in the Lyman sector yesterday.

However, our troops repelled eight enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region in the Bakhmut sector.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade in the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka.

"Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 23 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka and 17 attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Marinka and Peremoha in the Donetsk region in the Marinka sector, where they repelled four attacks.

Our defenders repelled an enemy attack west of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region in the Shakhtarsk sector.

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces in the Melitopol sector, as well as depleting the enemy along the entire front line.

Ukrainian troops continue to expand their foothold in the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson sector. The enemy did not abandon its intention to drive our units out of their positions, making 17 unsuccessful assault attempts. It received a worthy rebuff and retreated with losses. Our defenders are engaged in counter-battery combat, inflicting fire on the enemy's rear.

"Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces struck 12 areas where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated. Air defense also destroyed 3 Su-34 fighter-bombers. Missile troops hit 5 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, 2 ammunition depots and 2 enemy control points," the General Staff noted.

To recap, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones at night once again. The enemy began launching drones at 18:00 on December 22. They flew from two directions: from the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Air Defense Forces destroyed all 9 attack UAVS, shooting them down over the Odesa and Khmelnytskyi regions.
