Fighting near Avdiivka is localized: expert points to big problems for Putin's army. Map

The fighting in the Avdiivka area is local in nature

The Russian occupation army is not capable of conducting a large-scale offensive in the near future. The enemy has suffered huge losses since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, so Russian attempts to break through the defense in the Avdiivka sector are localized.

In addition, Russian troops are depressed because they realize the futility of performing combat missions. This was stated in an exclusive interview with OBOZ.UA by pilot-instructor, colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in reserve, military expert Roman Svitan.

According to him, Russia will use several battalions in the offensive on Avdiivka. The enemy cannot engage more trained forces due to huge losses of personnel.

"The fact is that the fighting that is currently taking place in the area of Avdiivka is localized. The width of the frontline there is no more than 10 kilometers, several battalions are involved, although recently several more brigades have been deployed towards Yasynuvata, Makiivka and Donetsk. But 3-4 battalions of the enemy are constantly engaged in combat, no more," explained Svitan.

He also added that the situation in the Avdiivka sector cannot be used to judge the situation on the entire front, as Russian troops are trying to advance on a 10-kilometer-wide section. At the same time, the enemy has huge problems in other parts of the front.

"Over the past year and a half, they have suffered huge losses. In particular, there are large losses among the conscripts in Donetsk and Luhansk occupied parts of the regions. There are some soldiers who have been fighting in Ukraine since last year. Indeed, the occupation forces are seriously tired of fighting," Svitan said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian occupiers realize the futility of performing combat missions. Therefore, the command is trying to replace exhausted combat units with new invaders. However, we are talking about people without appropriate military training who are sent to the front immediately after mobilization.

"They urgently need some kind of victory, the same Avdiivka, and just active combat operations are needed to simply support the fallen morale of the Russian army," noted Svitan.

As a reminder, the Russian occupation army continues offensive operations in the Avdiivka sector, but is not making progress. Moreover, significant enemy losses in equipment and manpower have led to a likely slowdown in Russian operations in the area.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian terrorist army has set a new deadline for the capture of Donetsk region. Currently, the enemy dreams of fully reaching the administrative borders of the region by December 31. In connection with these plans, the Russians began actively shelling Avdiivka.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- The commander of the 59th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vadym Sukharevsky, said that the enemy is trying to surround Avdiivka and focused on striking from the flanks from the north and south. The occupants have moved three new brigades there.

- Military expert Andriy Kramarov noted that the assault on Avdiivka did not bring any results to the Russian army. At the same time, the enemy lost a large amount of equipment, and the loss of manpower is simply enormous.
