Fighting for Bakhmut continues, Ukrainian air force strikes enemy positions 12 more times - General Staff

During May 21, the Russian occupiers attempted to break through the defenses in five areas of Donetsk Region - Kupyansk, Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka. The fiercest battles remain for Bakhmut, where the enemy threw most of its garrisons and combat equipment.

However, the defenders of Ukraine do not allow the enemy to implement its plan to gain an advantage in the eastern direction of fighting. According to the General Staff of the AFU on Facebook, in one day alone, the Ukrainian aviation conducted 12 strikes on the areas of concentration of the enemy's personnel and military equipment.

"As a result, three enemy reconnaissance UAVs of different types were destroyed. Rocket and artillery units hit an area of weapons and military equipment concentration, two ammunition trains, two artillery units at firing positions and another important enemy target," our military pointed out.

Also, the military leadership of Ukraine brought to attention that the enemy does not leave the following positions:

• in the Kupyansk sector, the enemy continues to try to improve the tactical situation. During the day, it conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Masiutivka. Artillery and mortar attacks by the enemy targeted the settlements of Kamyanka, Kolodyazne, Chervone Pershe, Petro-Ivanivka, Figolovka, Novomlynsk, Zakhidne, Monachynivka, Masiutivka, Tabaivka, Berestove in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region;

• in the Liman sector, the enemy conducted offensive actions in the direction of Ivano-Daryivka during the day, but was unsuccessful. They carried out air strikes near the settlement of Nevske. The settlements near the frontline came under artillery fire. In particular, Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnekamiane and Spirne in Donetsk region;
• in the Bakhmut sector, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Fighting for the town of Bakhmut continues. During the day, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost positions south of the village of Ivanivske. In addition, it conducted offensive actions in the direction of Hryhorivka, but was unsuccessful. He carried out air strikes near the settlements of Bakhmut and Ivanivske. Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Bila Hora and New York in Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling;

• in the Avdiivka sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Avdiivka and Pervomaiske, with no success. During the day, it carried out an air strike near Avdiivka, and fired artillery in the areas of Novokalynove, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pivnichne, Pershotravneve, Karlivka and Nevelske in the Donetsk region;
• in the Mariinka sector, Ukrainian defense forces repelled numerous enemy attacks near the town of Mariinka. The enemy launched air strikes near Maryinka and Novomykhailivka. At the same time, Heorhiivka, Peremoha and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under enemy fire;
• in the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions. At the same time, it carried out air strikes near the settlements of Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Niva and Velyka Novosilka. It also fired at the settlements of Vodyane and Vuhledar;
• in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson sectors, the enemy continues to conduct defensive actions. At the same time, it continues to destroy the infrastructure of settlements near the contact line. During this day, it carried out air strikes on the village of Stanislav in Kherson region, and also shelled Vremivka, Burlatske, Novosilka, Zelene Pole in Donetsk region; Olgivske, Hulyaypole, Zaliznychne, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Mali Shcherbaki and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region; Tyahyntsi in Kherson region and Kherson.
