Consequences of the occupiers' attack on July 8 in Kyiv

Explosions occurred in Kyiv during an air raid on the morning of July 8. As a result of the attack, debris fell in several districts of the capital and hit a children's medical center. Ten people were killed and 35 others were injured.

This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Also at 13:00, another shelling was reported in Kyiv, and eyewitnesses saw smoke in the sky.

The Kyiv City District Administration reported at 10:30 a.m. that debris had fallen in the Solomianskyi district of the capital.

"As a result of a missile strike on Kyiv, debris fell in the Solomianskyi district of the capital. Emergency services are on their way to the scene. Information on the damage and casualties is being clarified," said Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Administration of Emergency Situations.

Air defense is in place in the capital, the air raid alert continues, and all residents are urged to stay in shelters. According to a correspondent of OBOZ.UA, the number of people in the Kyiv subway tripled after the explosions.

As of 10:48 a.m., the KRMA reported that debris fell in Solomianskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts.

"As a result of a missile strike on Kyiv, debris fell in Solomianskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts. Preliminary, there is a fire. Information on the damage and casualties is being clarified. Stay in the shelters until the end of the day," Popko said.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko later reported that rocket fragments fell in Dniprovskyi and Solomianskyi districts. The call for services to the Holosiivskyi district was also recorded. Emergency crews were sent to the scene. At 10:54 a.m., an explosion was reported in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

"There was an explosion in the Shevchenkivskyi district," Klitschko said.

At 11:03 a.m., the Kyiv City Military Administration said that as a result of a missile strike on Kyiv, debris fell in Solomianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Holosiivskiy districts. Preliminary data is as follows:

  • An office building was damaged in Solomyanskyi district.
  • In Holosiivskyi district, debris fell near a residential building.
  • In Dniprovskyi district, debris is burning in a residential building.
  • A private house was damaged in the Darnytskyi district.
  • A building is on fire in the Desnianskyi district.

All emergency services are working at the scene. As of now, we know about one injured person, whose injuries are not critical to life. The information continues to be clarified.

Also, the mayor of the capital reported at least three injured as a result of the Russian attack and probably one victim.

"At the moment, we know about three victims. One of them was hospitalized. Two were treated on the spot. We are checking the information about one dead person," Klitschko said.

As of 11:10 a.m., it became known in the capital that the occupiers had hit one of the premises of a children's medical institution.

"They hit one of the premises of a children's medical institution," Klitschko said.

The Kyiv City State Administration reported that the Lukyanivska metro station is operating during the air alert both for transportation and for sheltering the population. It was also reminded that during the air alert, the subway does not run on the ground. As of 11:25 a.m., the alert in the capital continues, and all residents are urged to stay in shelters.

As of 11:31 a.m., the KRMA reported at least 5 victims of the Russian attack, and 9 more people were injured.

"Update. As of this minute, we know about 5 dead. The information is being updated," said Popko.

As of 11:36 a.m., the air raid alert has been canceled in Kyiv.

At 11:36, the mayor of the capital also informed that the number of victims had increased to 11 people, 8 of whom are in hospitals.

The Kyiv police report that as a result of the Russian attack, debris fell in Desnianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kyiv.

  • Two floors of a business center in Solomyanskyi district were damaged by rocket fragments. The destruction covers an area of 1500 square meters. One dead person, two people were injured, and the fire spread over an area of 50 square meters.
  • In Darnytsia district, a piece of debris hit a private residential building, injuring a woman's arm.
  • A house is on fire in the Desnianskyi district.
  • In the Holosiivskyi district, garages were damaged and cars were burning.
  • In Shevchenkivskyi district, a rocket fragment hit a hospital.

In other parts of the city, the debris fell on open areas. Rescuers are working at the scene.

As of 11:54 a.m., the KRMA reported that the number of casualties had increased to 7.

"Updates. As of this minute, we know about seven dead. The information is being updated," said Popko.

The mayor of the capital informed that the patients of the children's hospital, which was hit by an enemy missile, are being evacuated to municipal hospitals in the city.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko said that as of 12:10 a.m., there were 7 dead and 25 injured as a result of the attack on Kyiv. The occupants attacked the country's largest children's hospital. Rescuers on the ground are doing their best to rescue people from the rubble and provide assistance.

The mayor of the capital reported at 12:20 that a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district was hit. Entrances are damaged, and one is destroyed. Residents are being evacuated.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as of 12:30 a.m., the liquidation of the consequences of the hostile shelling of the capital continues in Podilskyi, Desnianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the city.

At 11:55 a.m., a fire was extinguished in the Shevchenkivskyi district in an area of 1500 square meters. Unfortunately, 5 people died and 4 were injured. The injured were taken to doctors for further hospitalization.

Preliminary, the total number of people killed is 8, and 15 more were injured.

213 rescuers and 43 units of basic and special fire and rescue equipment are working at the scene.

As of 12:40 p.m., nine people were killed and 23 wounded in Kyiv as a result of the attack, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

Destruction and damage to civilian infrastructure in seven districts of the capital were reported:

  • In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the Okhmadyt Children's Hospital was damaged, and there were destructions.
  • In Holosiivskyi district, a kindergarten and a residential building were damaged, and cars were burning.
  • An office building was damaged in Solomianskyi district.
  • In Dniprovskyi district, debris is burning in a residential building.
  • A private house is damaged in the Darnytskyi district.
  • In Svyatoshynskyi district, debris is burning near a residential building, and a fire broke out in the premises of an enterprise.
  • In the Desnianskyi district, a house caught fire.

Emergency services and investigative teams are working at the scene. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings over the violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At 13:16, the Kyiv City Administration of Emergency Situations reported that 10 people were killed and 35 injured as a result of the missile attack.
