A defensive operation is underway in the Bakhmut sector. Ukrainian soldiers managed to advance in some areas of the frontline and inflicted losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy.

This was stated on May 13 by the commander of the Eastern Military Group, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi. At the same time, according to Deepstate, changes in the map of hostilities are observed east of Stupochky and south of Ivanivske.

Syrskyi confirmed the success of Ukrainian troops in the Bakhmut sector.

"The defensive operation in the Bakhmut sector continues. Our soldiers are advancing in some parts of the frontline, and the enemy is losing equipment and manpower. Glory to Ukraine and our heroes!" - said the commander of the Eastern Military Group.

At the same time, he did not name the exact areas where the defenders advanced.

Deepstate's map of the fighting shows some changes that may indicate a certain advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces deeper into the enemy's positions.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to break through the occupiers' defence line from Khromove. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers state that the enemy is demoralised, so as a result of the assault, they pushed the occupiers back 500-600 metres from Khromove and took up positions on the dominant heights, which improved the tactical situation around Bakhmut.

At the same time, the Institute of War Studies noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces made progress northwest of Bakhmut and reported local counterattacks.
