Dozens of occupants wounded: DIU specified Russian losses as a result of the Sergei Kotov defeat

At least 27 Russian invaders were wounded during the destruction of the enemy Sergei Kotov warship on March 5. They were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

According to preliminary data, seven occupants were eliminated. This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

"According to the updated information, at least 27 crew members of the ship destroyed near the Kerch Strait sustained injuries of varying severity. According to preliminary data, 7 sailors were irretrievably lost," the statement said.

The DIU added that they continue to clarify information about enemy losses during the sinking of the Sergei Kotov.

Earlier, the figure of six wounded invaders was announced.

As a reminder, on the night of March 5, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed the Russian Sergei Kotov ship. Its cost is about $65 million. The details of the destruction of another enemy vessel were disclosed by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

A video capturing the moment the Russian ship was hit in Crimea was also posted online.

According to the DIU, Russia wanted to deploy a SAM on the Sergei Kotov ship. This ship participated in the attack on the Snake Island together with the cruiser Moskva. It is a fairly recent development of the aggressor state. Ships of this type were put on combat duty only after 2018.

According to Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, during the night attack, the Russians managed to partially evacuate the crew. About 10 ambulances arrived at the pier. Later, the DIU reported at least six wounded and seven dead Russian sailors, with a total of up to 80 people on board.

In addition to the ship itself, the occupiers also lost an onboard Ka-29 helicopter and an AK-176 artillery system during the attack on the Sergei Kotov.
