Discussed AFU's urgent needs: Syrskyi and Umerov met with British Defense Minister and Chief of Defense Staff
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi met with British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps and Chief of the British Defense Staff Tony Radakin in Kyiv. The main topic of their talks was the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Umerov wrote about this on his Facebook page. The meeting took place on Thursday, March 7. According to the minister, he and his colleagues discussed the priority needs of the Armed Forces, which have been fighting the Russian occupiers at the front for more than two years.
Umerov noted that the Storm Shadow missiles Ukraine received from the UK changed the situation on the battlefield.
"I am extremely grateful to the UK for its comprehensive support, including the supply of Storm Shadow missiles, which really change the situation on the battlefield. The UK is constantly convincing the free world to do the right thing. Together, we are proving that democracy can defeat autocracy," he said.
Syrskyi, for his part, said he had briefed his colleagues on the situation at the frontline in Ukraine and the latest actions of the enemy.
"We discussed the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. I informed about the situation at the front and the latest enemy actions. I am grateful to the United Kingdom for the comprehensive support of our state and the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
As reported, the UK has announced that it will provide Ukraine with 325 million pounds (about $416 million) in aid to provide the Armed Forces with drones through 2024. The funding will provide our country with more than 10 thousand UAVs, most of which are FPV drones, as well as 1000 UAVs that have been researched and developed in the UK, and reconnaissance and maritime drones.
