Ukraine's military leadership knows what it is doing in the Kursk region and is well aware of the risks it is taking with this operation. The Ukrainian armed forces continue to have the will and ability to succeed.

This was stated by Major General of the Bundeswehr, Head of the Situation Center for Ukraine, and Chief of Staff of the German Armed Forces for Planning Christian Freuding in a video podcast of the Ministry of Defense Enquired. After he visited Kyiv, the German general expressed his admiration for the Ukrainian military.

He answered the question of whether Ukraine should not have redirected its resources to the problematic areas in Donbas instead of launching a risky operation in Russia.

"When a military leader has the opportunity to take the initiative, he should use it. From my impressions and my conversations, the Ukrainians are well aware of the risk they are taking with this operation, but it can lead to significant dynamics if this operation is successful. And so I understand very well why they decided to launch the operation, despite the risk," Freuding said.

The general recently held talks in the Ukrainian capital. According to him, the advance in the Kursk region is "a good indicator that the Ukrainian armed forces continue to have the will and ability to succeed and win this war."

He also spoke enthusiastically about the Ukrainian military and said what impressed him most about Ukrainians.

"As for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it is their organization, discipline, professionalism, bravery and courage. As for the Ukrainians, it is the desire for life and unconditional thirst for freedom," Christian Freuding said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Major General of the Bundeswehr Christian Freuding announced a new large package of military assistance to Ukraine. It includes weapons that will be transferred to Kyiv by the end of 2024. In particular, it includes Leopard tanks, IRIS-T short- and medium-range tanks, and Zuzana 2.
