"Didn’t beat her on her head": Russia hysterically calls for the suspension of Ukrainian tennis players who put aggressors in their place

The famous Russian tennis player Andrei Chesnokov threw a real tantrum because of Ukrainians Lesia Tsurenko and Marta Kostyuk, who expressed an unequivocal attitude towards fans of the war in our country. The winner of seven singles tournaments demanded that the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) suspend sportswomen from Kyiv from competitions, accusing them of politicizing the sport.

Chesnokov said this to the propaganda news agency TASS after Kostyuk refused to shake hands with Russian Varvara Gracheva, and Tsurenko did not take the court against Arina Sobolenko, a supporter of Alexander Lukashenko. He noted that his compatriot did nothing to Marta, in particular, "didn’t beat her on her head with a racket."

"If Tsurenko has no injuries, then let the WTA not pay her money, take off points for the tournament. Sobolenko did nothing to her, she behaves with dignity towards other players, and Tsurenko behaves unsportsmanlike. I believe that the WTA should introduce measures, if this is not done, then these antics will continue indefinitely, and it's imossible. Before that, Kostyuk refused to shake hands with Gracheva, although she had no reason for this, Varvara didn’t insult her, didn’t beat her on her head with a racket. These actions violate the integrity of the tennis family. I believe that if they are fined and suspended from tournaments for several months, then these actions, which have nothing to do with sports, will immediately stop," Chesnokov said.

Earlier, Arina Sobolenko cynically stated that she did not feel guilty because the dictatorial regime of Alexander Lukashenko supported Russia in the war against Ukraine. And Marta Kostiuk shouted "Glory to Ukraine!" after defeating the Russian in the final of the WTA tournament.
