Ukrainian special services have increasingly started conducting operations in the African country of Sudan. Their goal is to eliminate the enemy wherever possible.
This was stated in a commentary for OBOZ.UA at the forum "Ukraine. Year 2024" forum, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said. Videos of relevant special operations are periodically posted online.
"The goal is to fight for Ukraine's influence in the world and to destroy the enemy in all possible territories," the head of the Ukrainian intelligence service emphasized.
In early February, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine captured mercenaries of the Russian PMC Wagner in Sudan. They confessed that they were sent to this country to overthrow the government. "Wagner's men were engaged, among other things, in recruiting local Sudanese population into their ranks.
The Kyiv Post published a video of the mercenaries' interrogation and reminded that in May 2023, the head of the DIU, Kirill Budanov, promised to "destroy Russian war criminals anywhere in the world," and the campaign in Sudan was obviously part of this task.
In November 2023, videos were also published online showing Ukrainian special forces "hunting" mercenaries of the Kremlin's terrorist PMC Wagner in Sudan.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on September 20, CNN attributed a series of drone strikes and a ground operation in Sudan to Ukraine's military intelligence. It was about attacks on the Rapid Support Forces militants supported by Wagner.
As it turned out later, the DIU did indeed conduct an operation in Sudan, where it fought against the forces supporting the Wagnerites.
