On Thursday, May 16, Denmark announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth DKK 5.6 billion, which is approximately EUR 750 million. The main funds will be used to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and artillery.

This was reported by the Danish Ministry of Defense. The announced package is the 18th in a row that Copenhagen has provided to Kyiv.

According to the Danish defense ministry, almost half of the amount will be spent on air defense systems, while the rest will be used, in particular, to transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, maintain artillery systems, and supply shells and anti-tank mines.

"With today's donation, we are meeting Ukraine's urgent need for more air defense, artillery, and ammunition. As part of the package, the government is also providing additional funds to invest directly in the Ukrainian defense industry. It makes sense to produce weapons where they are used and by those who use them. It is also about Ukraine's long-term defense capability. Ukraine has the skills but lacks funding. We hope that more countries can be inspired to follow this model," said Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

Denmark is preparing to transfer Western F-16 fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They should arrive in our country within a few months. This statement was made by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

On Wednesday, May 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen solutions that would help speed up the delivery of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.

Denmark will deliver the first F-16s to Ukraine in the summer of 2024, and the process will continue in the fall. After that, the Netherlands is planning to start sending fighters to our country.
