Ukrainian defenders are preparing for an offensive in the Kherson sector. Currently, the Defence Forces are conducting reconnaissance and working out the rear of the Russian occupation forces.
Thus, they continue to put pressure on the enemy. This was reported by Colonel Mykola Urshalovych, Deputy Director of the Department of Deployment Planning of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine.
"In the Kherson sector, the Defence Forces continue to exert pressure on the enemy, conducting active reconnaissance and fire at the full depth of the enemy's defences to prepare areas and borders for offensive actions," he said.
Urshalovych specified that Ukrainian reconnaissance men are actively working to destroy the invaders. In particular, they have identified 393 enemy targets, some of which were destroyed with the support of the Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine.
In addition, artillerymen of the National Guard, together with the defence forces, are conducting active combat operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut and Orikhiv directions. Ukrainian defenders have completed more than 570 firing missions and neutralised more than 50 enemy personnel, 14 of whom were irretrievably wounded.
Urshalovych added that two ammunition storage sites for artillery systems were destroyed and three artillery systems were damaged.
Earlier, the former commander of US forces in Europe, Ben Hodges, explained why the Ukrainian army's counter-offensive is slow. The American general stressed that the Ukrainian military is succeeding despite the fact that they are attacking without air superiority.
In addition, the occupiers have been replacing fields that are now difficult for the defenders to cross.
General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, commander of the Tavria Operational and Strategic Group, also mentioned minefields as one of the main problems facing Ukrainian troops.
