"Criminal manipulation": Madyar reacts to the scandalous NYT article about the Armed Forces' operations on the left bank of Kherson region. Video

Journalists are chasing "sensation" and fees, military explains

Ukrainian soldier, commander of the Madyar's Birds company Robert Brovdi ("Madyar") expressed outrage at the scandalous New York Times article, which called the attempt of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to gain a foothold on the left bank of the Kherson region and hold the bridgehead in Krynky a "suicide mission." Madyar accused the American newspaper of criminal manipulation in pursuit of a "sensation" and fees.

The defense lawyer published a video message on his Telegram channel on December 17. "I am outraged by the article of the powerful newsmaker, read by the whole world, The New York Times, which on December 16 published an article with evaluative judgments and conclusions about the expediency and success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's combat operations on the left bank bridgehead around the village of Krynky," Madyar said.

He said that his unit has been performing combat missions "continuously and daily" since the beginning of October, from the first day of the Ukrainian offensive on the left bank of the Dnipro, and the occupiers are hunting him personally and every crew of Madyar's Birds.

"I don't want to infringe on your right to cover your position, even if it is subjective, but I want to draw your attention to a criminal manipulation. I hope it's not a paid-for manipulation, but not an all-encompassing one in the pursuit of sensationalism and, I apologize, fees. It is normal to film the emotional impressions of soldiers returning from the left. It is normal for a Netflix movie. Filming them for a generalized bullsh*t about positions is ashameful criminal manipulation of the readers' minds," Madyar said.

He added that the NYT article, which contains comments from individual military officers, does not provide a generalized objective picture of the events.

"It's like addressing the relatives of a driver who has just died in a highway accident with accusations against the builders of that highway that it allows for 130 km of speed, as opposed to a normal road where the speed limit is 80 km. And to blame the death of that driver on the creation of conditions for ultra-fast driving, to cope with their impressions and draw generalized conclusions for the whole world," the military explained.

As a reminder, on December 16, The New York Times published an article citing Ukrainian military personnel who described the offensive on the left bank of the Dnipro as brutal and futile, as Ukrainian soldiers were shot down on the bank or in the water before they reached the other side. According to them, due to the swampy terrain, the defenders also have nowhere to dig in.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the morning of December 18, in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian forces are holding their positions on the left bank, conducting counter-battery combat and inflicting fire damage on the enemy's rear.

- The ISW stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold positions on the left bank of the Kherson region and inflict heavy losses on the enemy. Recently, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have tried to advance towards the forests near the village of Krynky.
