The Armed Forces of Ukraine officially adopted the self-propelled artillery system of Ukrainian production 2S22 "Bogdana". Now our defenders showed how the howitzer works on the front line.

2S22 Bogdana is a Ukrainian wheeled self-propelled howitzer, with a 155 mm caliber barrel. It is mounted on the KrAZ-63221 chassis. Development has been underway since at least 2018.

"Bogdana" became the first Ukrainian self-propelled artillery designed for the standard for NATO countries caliber 155 millimeters.

The declared curb weight is 28 tons. Its crew consists of five people.

The cabin is equipped with heating, air conditioning, ventilation and warm air blowing systems, electric heating of windshield and door windows. It provides space for additional equipment: observation and night vision devices, radiation and chemical reconnaissance and control devices, radio station, personal protection items, transported ammunition and personal belongings of the crew.

The cabin is armored and protects against B-32 type bullets of 7.62 mm caliber from a distance of no more than 30 m at angles of fire of ±30° and projectile fragments similar in energy of action. The hull design provides mine protection.

The Bogdan SAU has an automated guidance system based on Siemens SIPLUS and SIMATIC HMI controllers and an automatic ammunition feeding system for 6 shells.

The Ukrainian howitzer is capable of firing active-jet shells at a distance of 50 kilometers. When using fragmentation projectiles, the range of target engagement is 40-42 km.

Charging, aiming and firing can be controlled from both inside and outside the cab - a second control station is installed in the rear of the self-propelled artillery.
