"Buildings can't stand it, but the guys are standing": Ukrainian defenders show how they defend Bakhmut. Video.

The military showed how they defend Bakhmut

The heroic Ukrainian soldiers who are holding the fortress city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast to the very limit of human capabilities have shown how they defend the town. The Russian occupiers have turned the town into ruins and are using all kinds of weapons against the defenders of Ukraine.

Despite the enemy's continuous attacks, the Ukrainian military are standing. A video from Bakhmut was filmed for OBOZREVATEL by soldiers of the 135th Battalion of the 114th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade on May 14 (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The 10-minute recording shows that the occupiers do not stop shelling Bakhmut for a minute. New craters and destruction are constantly appearing in the city, and the video shows volley after volley.

The defender of Bakhmut noted that the battalion has been in the city since April 24, and the soldiers set up their position on the ruins of a house that was destroyed by Russians.

"We have not given up our positions, we have been here since April 24. We have not surrendered a single position! Buildings are falling down, this is one of our positions... The positions are moving, they can't stand it, it's impossible to enter, there is fire, fires, but the guys are standing! They did not allow the enemy to advance even a metre - we have been defending this position since we took it on April 24," he said.

"This is the house, to the left is Tchaikovsky Street, and there are Russians there. They didn't move a single metre... They couldn't take anything. They are burning, shooting, blowing up, and still they are not succeeding. The guys are standing and not letting the enemy go anywhere," said the Bakhmut defender.

The soldier noted that the positions have to be set up in residential buildings - where there used to be life before the "Russian world" came to Ukraine.

He also showed what Bakhmut looks like, which Russian troops have been wiping off the map since July.

"What a horror the 'Russian world' has brought... Trees are burnt, there are big craters. There used to be houses, a nice playground, cars, people lived here," the soldier said.

He added that despite the fact that the enemy is firing with all possible weapons, Ukrainian soldiers are ready to defend the city.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to advance on the flanks near Bakhmut. However, every metre of liberated territory comes at a high price, and the invaders are constantly trying to recapture lost ground.

The Institute for the Study of War stated that Russian troops are now trying to intensify offensive operations in Bakhmut after successful counterattacks by the Ukrainian army, while British intelligence stressed that the Ukrainian Defence Forces have achieved tactical success in Bakhmut by stabilising their flanks.
