Eight Russian brigades are currently fighting near Avdiivka, and the losses they suffered were among the largest in 2023. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data.

"Over the past week, heavy but inconclusive fighting has continued around the city of Avdiivka, Donetsk region, where Russia launched a large-scale offensive in mid-October 2023," the British Defense Ministry said.
According to British intelligence, Russia has deployed 8 brigades to the Avdiivka area. And they, probably suffered some of the largest losses of Russian troops in 2023 according to the British Ministry of Defense.
"Political leaders are demanding the seizure of more territory, but the military is unable to carry out effective operational-level offensives," the British defense ministry summarized.
